6th Anniversary

August 7th Carey and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. This year we found 'our day' of celebration to be in Kaui. My parents gifted us all with a trip on Christmas so we were all there together for a week. So of coarse my mom and dad were happy to watch Niyah for the morning while we went out to breakfast and walked the beach. Breathtaking. Anniversaries in Hawaii are wonderful. I told Carey a number of times, "I hope to do it again someday!"

Once again the day was a special time of remembering back to all that took place the past 6+ years: Our courtship, engagement, rehearsal dinner, wedding day, honeymoon, move to Portland, school at Multnomah, Hygiene school, buying a house, HOFCC, friends made, relationships built, faith strengthened, Western Seminary, birth of Niyah Joy, move to Leavenworth, miscarriage, new job opportunities, Grace Covenant Church... and the adventures continue. We are so grateful for each other and the road the Lord has graciously allowed us to travel. I pray I would travel the road in thankfulness in the knowledge of Christ.

I still have MUCH to learn and grow in to become a woman/wife of noble character who honors, submits to, and respects her husband. But I am thankful that I have a Savior and Teacher who is in the business of transforming lives. I can trust and hope in the truth that He will complete the work He has began within me. I am realizing more and more that I can not and will not be able to be the wife Carey needs apart from Christ. I am Carey's best helpmate when I am first submitted to Christ. I am just so stubborn too often! I pray that I would be molded into a wife that Carey can be proud of, built up in the faith by, and confide in.

Six years of marriage is finally sounding like, "Yea we have been married awhile now!" I think we are officially no longer in the newlywed category. Although we often feel like it! We do look forward to the years ahead. With each anniversary we will have treaded through new experiences and strengthened an even deeper love toward one another. Yet mostly, I pray we will know more of who the Person of Christ is because of how we journey through this life together.

I am thankful for my husband. For his pursuit of Christ. I can know Christ in deeper ways because of His life I see lived in my husband. Lord willing we will have many more years to celebrate together and know dig up greater treasures of the gospel together. I love you Carey.
